Finally Google founder Eric Schmidt see Microsoft as potential threat to its Google search engine, never considered Facebook or Apple as competitors to Google
"While it's true Web search is not the only game in town, searching information is what it is all about," Schmidt said in Wall Street Journal interview video posted online yesterday.
He described Apple as a well-respected competitor and Facebook as a "company of consequence doing an excellent job in social networking," but said that Microsoft's latest-generation search engine was Google's main competition.
"We consider neither to be a competitive threat," Schmidt said, referring to Facebook and Apple. "Absolutely, our competitor is Bing. Bing is a well-run, highly competitive search engine."

(CNN) Google had come with new tool which tell the user that which country had suppressed or requested for the censorship. The tool called Google Transparency, the online report shows that internet censorship around the world is increasing over time, and not always in the countries you'd expect, said Dorothy Chou, a Google policy analyst who worked on the project.
"The threat to internet freedom has actually been growing over the past few years," she said, noting that the United States generally bucks that trend by supporting open online communication.
Google Transparency includes an interactive map where users can see how many requests countries have made for Google to block or remove content.
This online tool also lets users explore internet up-time in specific countries for specific Google-owned websites.

(Reuters) - Google's dominance in search market is at saturated point? According to the research firm Strategy Analytics (SA), Google's position on the global online search market slipped slightly in the second quarter, as it retreated from the Chinese market, said on Friday.
Google's market share fell to 69.7 percent in the June quarter from 71.1 percent in the previous three months.
"Google's search revenue growth continues to slow down as the Western search market reaches maturity and Google struggles to gain share in the fastest-growing Asian markets," said Martin Olausson, analyst at Strategy Analytics.
"As a company, it will become increasingly more important for Google to find significant new revenue streams in order to offset decelerating growth in search," Olausson said.

I don't know what China wants to prove with renewal of Google's licence to operate in China, the internet giant has said.
Google gave no details of the licence renewal.
There had been speculation China would revoke the licence after Google began redirecting Chinese users to its unfiltered search site in Hong Kong.
But last month, Google said it would no longer automatically redirect users in a conciliatory move towards Beijing.

Google removed two free applications from Android phones this week, using a feature that allows them to delete the applications from phones remotely.
Google has not revealed the names of the applications but said they were applications built for research purposes by a security researcher. The researcher voluntarily removed the applications from Android Market.
The applications were removed because they violated the Android Market terms and intentionally misrepresented their purpose to encourage user downloads. The applications posed no threat, there was no malicious intent in their design, and they had no permission to access private information.

Google’s Bots can understand some Javascript Code.

Google told Forbes that Google now has deeper interaction with JavaScript, and its bots can even “understand some JavaScript.” This could make indexing rich content a great deal easier on the world’s largest search engine.
As Forbes points out, having a program understand JavaScript isn’t a simple affair. No algorithm “can be applied to any program, at any point, and tell whether or not that program continues ad infinitum.” However, if Google’s bots could execute JavaScript themselves, it would solve some of those difficult issues.
The Googlebot is getting smarter and faster, thanks to Google Caffeine.
