Washington: An Iranian nuclear scientist, who claimed that he was abducted by US spies last year, was paid $ 5 million by CIA to provide intelligence on Tehran's nuclear programme, but may not be able to use the money in his country, a media report said on Thursday.

However, Shahram Amiri, who returned home to a hero's welcome, would find it hard to access the money as he has gone back to Iran which is under UN sanctions, an unnamed official was quoted as saying by 'The Washington Post'.

"Shahram Amiri is not obligated to return the money but might be unable to access it after breaking off what US officials described as significant cooperation with the CIA and abruptly returning to Iran," the report said.

Citing officials, it said he might have left out of concern that the Iranian government would harm his family.

London: It's business as unusual for a British milkman - the 69-year-old has become fluent in at least two Indian languages: Gujarati and Bengali, as many of his customers can't speak English.

John "Jimmy" Mather first delivered milk in 1960 and soon made friends with the few immigrants on his round from India and Bangladesh. And, as more Asian families settled in with very little or no English, this British milkman started learning their language and mastered spoken Gujarati and Bengali, the Daily Express reported.

"When I began in 1960 there used to be a handful of Asian families in the region. I can still remember the first few people I served. They were good, decent folk but obviously their English wasn't good. So I picked it up myself and it made things a whole lot easier," he was quoted as saying.

Japan's Sumo having ties with Underworld?

Japan's sumo is going through its hard times from damaging scandals and declining popularity. Recently investigation suggests that the sumo wrestlers might be having ties with organised criminals(Underworld)

On Sunday, the Japan Sumo Association, the sport's governing body, announced the firing of a top wrestler and a stable master a powerful coach who controls a cluster of wrestlers for betting on professional baseball games in a gambling ring run by organized crime. Two other stable masters were demoted, and 18 other wrestlers were barred from competing in the next tournament.

This came after an apparently unrelated scandal two months ago over the sale of tickets for prized seats at the foot of the sport's raised dirt ring to around 50 members of the Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan's largest crime syndicate. The seats allowed the gangsters, known as yakuza, to be clearly visible during television broadcasts of the bouts, a brazen display that sumo experts said was aimed at cheering up an incarcerated syndicate boss watching from prison.

New York: In the face of falling ratings, the CNN host Larry King announced on Tuesday evening, that he would end his long-running talk show, "Larry King Live," this fall.

Jonathan Klein, president of CNN's domestic channel, said that Mr. King, 76, was ending the show "on his own terms," just after his 25th anniversary. Mr. Klein said he would announce a new 9 pm program over the summer.

Mr. King will stay at CNN part time. In an announcement on his show, he said that he would host an undetermined number of specials "on major national and international subjects." "Larry King Live," the centerpiece of the CNN primetime schedule, has seen its ratings drop sharply in the recent years, particularly in the last six months, leading to widespread talk that Mr. King's current contract, which will expire in June 2011, could be his last. Asked by Bill Maher, his guest on his Tuesday night show, about the speculation in the media, Mr. King said "that had nothing to do with it." He said he approached CNN management about the change and they "graciously accepted."

Alyssa Thomas, 6, is under the spotlight of the US Government, and her family recently came to know that she is on the "no fly" list maintained by the US Homeland Security.

"We were, like, puzzled. I'm like, well, she's kinda six-years-old and this is not something that should be typical," said Dr. Santhosh Thomas.

During a recent trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis, Dr. Thomas and his wife were made aware of the listing. The ticket agent at the Continental counter at Hopkins Airport notified the family, FOX News reports.

A masterpiece from Picasso's "blue period" sold for 34.7 million pounds (.8 million) at a major auction of Impressionist and Modern Art at Christie's in London Wednesday.

The 1903 painting, Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto, had been expected to fetch between 30 and 40 million pounds at the evening sale, which Christie's said could yield a total of 230 million pounds.

However, the price for the Picasso, formerly owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Britain's foremost musical composer, remained well below expectations.

Christie's had billed the sale as the "most valuable art auction ever to take place in London."

Hyksos, who ruled ancient Egypt for a little over 100 years and their civilized city was found by a team of Austrian archaeologists at Nile Delta.

The ancient Egyptians so reviled the Hyksos- the people who introduced horsedrawn carriages into the world-that they obliterated all traces of their rich civilisation.

Archaeological discovery of the Hyksos capital, Avaris, led by Irena Mueller, deputy director of the Austrian Archaeological Institute, Cairo, will cast muchneeded light on an empire that flourished from 1664 to 1569 BC.
