It takes as many as 46 days for a foreign company to set up business in the country, which is faster than in countries like China and Brazil but far longer than the 7-14 days it takes in the US and Britain, says a World Bank report.
Even among the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) nations, Russia has an edge as it takes just 31 days for starting foreign-owned business, said the Bank's Investing Across Borders (IAB) 2010 Report that covers 87 countries.
It takes 166 days for foreign companies to set up shop in Brazil and 99 days in China.

It takes longer to read books on a Kindle 2 or an iPad versus a printed book, Jakob Nielsen of product development consultancy Nielsen Norman Group discovered in a recent usability survey.
The study found that reading speeds declined by 6.2% on the iPad and 10.7% on the Kindle compared to print. However, Nielsen conceded that the differences in reading speed between the two devices were not “statistically significant because of the data’s fairly high variability” — in other words, the study did not prove that the iPad allowed for faster reading than the Kindle.

Online gaming site Roiworld surveyed 600 teens ages 13 to 17 in late April and found that teens spend two hours per day online on average, 80% of which is spent using a social network. These same teens are, however, showing signs of “Facebook Fatigue.” Nearly one in five (19%) who have an account no longer visit Facebook or are using it less.
Of the group that are saying goodbye to Facebook , 45% have lost interest, 16% are leaving because their parents are there, 14% say there are “too many adults/older people” and 13% are concerned about the privacy of their personal information.

Americans trust technology heavyweights such as Apple, Google and Microsoft more than social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, according to a new poll.
Nearly half of 2,100 adults questioned in a Zogby Interactive survey said they trusted the big three technology firms "completely" or "a lot," compared to eight percent for Twitter and 13 percent for Facebook.
But all of the companies rated higher than traditional media.
John Zogby, the president and CEO of Zogby International, said big companies have had the time to build brand equity, while Facebook and Twitter do not have the corporate identity.

Just three places below Afghanistan, Pakistan has been ranked the 10th most failed state in the 2010 Failed State Index released by the prestigious Foreign Policy magazine on Monday.
The list is topped by Somalia, followed by Zimbabwe, Sudan, and Chad.

Individuals with chronic insomnia have an elevated risk of death, says a new research.
"The most surprising result was the increased high risk for mortality among individuals with chronic insomnia versus those without insomnia," said Ms Laurel Finn, a biostatistician at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
"The other important finding was the non-differentiation between subtypes of insomnia with respect to mortality risk."
The study involved 2,242 participants in the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort Study who completed two to three mailed surveys for the years 1989, 1994 and 2000.

Teenagers who share a close relationship with their mothers are more likely to enjoy a successful romantic life when they grow up, a new study has claimed.
Researchers at the Montclair State University in New Jersey found that teenagers' bonding with their parents, especially with mothers, influence their romantic life in adulthood.
"Parents' relationships with their children are extremely important and that's how we develop our ability to have successful relationships as adults, our parents are our models," said Constance Gager, who led the study.
"So if kids are not feeling close with their parents then they are probably not going to model the positive aspects of that relationship when they reach adulthood," Gager was quoted as saying by Live Science.

Vijay Mallya-led Kingfisher Airlines has been voted the best Indian carrier and Finnair the best in north Europe in a global survey by an independent research agency - often called the Oscars of airline industry.
Kingfisher got the honours under three categories - best airline in India and Central Asia, best economy class seats and excellent staff service, while the Nordic carrier was awarded for its overall performance as a "four-star" airline.
London-based Skytrax announced the results after a survey among 18 million air passengers from some 100 different countries that was carried out between July 2009 and April 2010.
"Being recognised by Skytrax is an honour and we would like to thank our valued guests who chose to fly Kingfisher Airlines," said Mallya, whose business interests span airlines and Formula 1 racing to spirits and beer.
