A Pakistani court has reportedly ordered a ban on nine leading websites, including Google and Hotmail, for allegedly posting blasphemous material though officials today said they had not received any instruction to block the sites.
Media reports said the Bahawalpur bench of the Lahore High Court yesterday directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to immediately block nine websites, including Google, Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail, YouTube, Bing and Amazon, for publishing and promoting sacrilegious and blasphemous material.
Justice Mazher Iqbal Sidhu issued the order while hearing a petition filed by a man named Muhammad Sidiq who claimed these websites were publishing sacrilegious material.

World Cup 2010 is officially underway and to celebrate, Yahoo and (RED) have teamed up to donate $1 for every goal scored today via Yahoo Penalty Shootout to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.
Yahoo’s Penalty Shootout online game launched in May. The game tasks users to try their hand at winning a penalty shootout against friends or strangers. You can choose your country and challenge one of your Yahoo or Facebook friends to a shootout duel. For each shootout, you’ll play the part of both the striker and the goalie, selecting a portion of the goal to either attack or defend.

Yahoo Inc. is hoping to turn on a new sharing option in its popular e-mail service without shocking users who prize their privacy.
That's why the Internet company is advising its 280 million e-mail account holders to review their privacy settings along with their incoming messages.
Yahoo posted the privacy reminder this week as it prepares to unveil new features that will share its e-mail users' online activities and interests with people listed in their address books unless they take steps to prevent the information from being broadcast. The new sharing tools will be appearing in people's e-mail accounts this month.

(Mashable) -- Fresh off a deal that will keep 'FarmVille," "Mafia Wars" and other popular Zynga titles on Facebook for at least the next five years, the company has inked a partnership with Yahoo to bring its social games to the Internet giant's massive userbase.
Yahoo users will be able to access Zynga's games from the Yahoo Homepage, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Games, among other properties.
The deal makes a lot of sense for both companies. Games remain one of Yahoo's major strengths, with its Yahoo Games property seeing more than 19 million unique visitors each month according to comScore data.
With Zynga's titles already racking up insane amounts of usage on Facebook, we expect their addition to Yahoo will only help increase those metrics and the amount of time users are spending on the portal.
