The iPhone 4 went on sale June 24. After taking this latest Apple gadget apart and identifying the components, iSuppli estimated the cost of the parts totals $187.51. That's more than the $170.80 iSuppli estimates for the cost of the materials inside the iPhone 3GS, Apple's last-generation smart phone.

The estimates don't include manufacturing, software, marketing and other costs.

The priciest part of the iPhone 4 is the new, higher-resolution LCD screen, which iSuppli estimates carries a cost of $28.50. Flash memory, which has been in short supply, costs $27. Apple's processor, which was manufactured by Samsung, according to iSuppli, costs $10.75, and the capacitive touch screen costs $10.

Sepp Blatter apologises to England, Mexico for Referee Mistakes.

(AP) With pressure for video replay mounting after two blatant missed calls at the World Cup, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said soccer's governing body will reopen the issue after the tournament.

Blatter said Tuesday that FIFA deplores ``when you see the evidence of refereeing mistakes.'' It would be ``a nonsense'' not to consider changes, he said.

The referee at England's second-round match with Germany on Sunday missed a clear English goal that would have tied the score 2-2. Germany went on to win 4-1. Hours later, a referee awarded a goal to Argentina on a play in which goal-scorer Carlos Tevez was obviously offside. Argentina went on to beat Mexico 3-1.

A man beat his two-year-old stepdaughter then suffocated her to death in an American town for crying during a World Cup football match between the US and Ghana which the latter won. To make the killing look accidental, he jammed a screw down her throat.

Hector Castro, 28, has been arrested for murdering in McAllen city in Texas Saturday. Ghana beat the US 2-1.

The Monitor quoted McAllen police chief Victor Rodriguez as saying: "There are no words for this. It makes you want to think about doing lots of things to this guy, but he will face the criminal justice system just like everybody else."

Reports say the 2m (6.5ft) female elephant was tracked down in Maungdaw in the west of the country.

White elephants are only nominally white - they often look reddish-brown in the sun, and light pink when wet.

Analysts say the animal is likely to be brought to the capital, Naypyidaw, for the military ruler, General Than Shwe.

Earth's gravity in high definition

This colourful new map traces the subtle but all pervasive influence the pull of gravity has across the globe.

Known as a geoid, it essentially defines where the level surface is on our planet; it tells us which way is "up" and which way is "down".

It is drawn from delicate measurements made by Europe's Goce satellite, which flies so low it comes perilously close to falling out of the sky.

Scientists say the data gathered by the spacecraft will have numerous applications.

Marcin de Kaminski, a founder of Piratbyran, which means "piracy bureau" in English, told BBC News "we don't feel we are needed" any more.

But the group also decided to close following the death of a co-founder.

A spokesperson for the Swedish computer games industry said the decision showed "the discussion has moved on".

Piratbyran first emerged in 2003, as a response to the Swedish body Antipiratbyran (anti-piracy bureau), which works to counter the sharing of copyrighted materials on-line.

Gas bubbles to treat Cancer.

Researchers have found a novel technique of destroying cancer cells in the body by injecting exploding gas bubbles into the blood stream.

The research team from Leeds University developed the technique that uses microscopic gas bubbles to carry chemotherapy drugs to tumours, where the drugs can target the cancer cells.

Each of the tiny bubbles, which are less than a tenth of the width of a human hair, can be specifically targeted towards cancer cells so that they clump around the tumour.

(IANS) Resveratrol, an ingredient found in red wine, grapes, blueberries, peanuts and some plants, stops uncontrolled blood vessel growth in the eye, says a study led by an Indian-American.

'Resveratrol has been identified as an anti-aging compound. Given our interest in age-related eye diseases, we wanted to find out whether there was any link,' said retina specialist Rajendra S. Apte, senior study investigator.

Apte, formerly from Mumbai University and now with the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, added: 'There were reports on resveratrol's effects on blood vessels in other parts of the body, but there was no evidence that it had any effect within the eye.'

6 Years Old on 'No Fly List' due to Terror Link Suspect.

(ANI): The US Homeland Security Department has put a six-year-old Indian origin American girl on the "no fly" list on the grounds of having suspected ties to terrorists.

Alyssa Thomas, 6, is under the spotlight of the US Government, and her family recently came to know that she is on the "no fly" list maintained by the US Homeland Security.

"We were, like, puzzled. I'm like, well, she's kinda six-years-old and this is not something that should be typical," said Dr. Santhosh Thomas.

During a recent trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis, Dr. Thomas and his wife were made aware of the listing. The ticket agent at the Continental counter at Hopkins Airport notified the family, FOX News reports.

Google deletes two Android applications remotely.

Google removed two free applications from Android phones this week, using a feature that allows them to delete the applications from phones remotely.

Google has not revealed the names of the applications but said they were applications built for research purposes by a security researcher. The researcher voluntarily removed the applications from Android Market.

The applications were removed because they violated the Android Market terms and intentionally misrepresented their purpose to encourage user downloads. The applications posed no threat, there was no malicious intent in their design, and they had no permission to access private information.

German physicists have discovered a time delay when using light pulses to emit electrons from atoms. Until now, it has been assumed that the electrons start moving out of the atom immediately after the impact of the photons. This delay is the shortest time interval measured to date.

FIFA World Cup Bringing Down Twitter?

CNN.com’s Twitter buzz counted more than 300,000 World Cup-related tweets during the first game, and some data we just received from Trendrr also shows a huge spike, with up to 150,000 tweets per hour during the game (note: the time line on the graph below is MST).

Mark Ghuneim from Wiredset, the agency behind Trendrr, told me a few days ago that he expects the World Cup to be record-breaking. “It will be the largest conversation in social media,” he said.

Twitter already had some availability issues earlier this week, leading to a complete outage of about 90 minutes on Wednesday,
