After Google exiting the mainland China, site like Baidu are on the advantage by increasing its market share. Now adding more worry to the google is that china has launched an official online mapping service called Map World.
This web-based service gives people access to increasingly detailed satellite images of China and high-level images of other nations.
The flat maps can be viewed in 3D if visitors download and install a browser plug-in to convert the images.
China said the service was still in development and would be updated regularly. It said it could currently handle about 10 million visits per day.

According to temple official of Tirumala, The country's richest shrine at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh may get unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) surveillance as part of security enhancement plans for the temple which is visited by thousands of devotees daily.
It is 2 kg, battery-operated surveillance UAV, designed and developed by a Bangalore-based firm, was test-flown during the Navaratri Brahmotsavam (held for nine days October 8-16 during the Navaratri) at the hill shrine, MK Singh, chief vigilance officer of the temple, said.
The aerial surveillance was conducted for 45 minutes and results are satisfactory, he said over phone from Tirupati.

Chinese Govt official said that it has started research on a new super-speed technology that would allow it to run trains at over 500 km an hour.
Railway ministry chief engineer He Huawu said that new technology will increase the average speed of trains to over 500 km per hour, China Daily reported.
Speaking at a conference in central China's Wuhan city, He said that the 400-500 km/h high-speed railway technology is in its final phase of development and the 380-km/h trains are already coming off production lines.
China has already put into service 7,055 km of high-speed railway tracks - the longest in the world. It is expected to reach 13,000 km by 2012.

The development of technology for producing Laser Guided Bomb(LGB) is part of ongoing research towards achieving self-dependency in the defense area being done in IRDE, a lab of DRDO, Scientist and Public Relation Officer of IRDE told PTI.
LGB uses a laser designator to mark or illuminate a target. The reflected laser light from the target is then detected by the seeker which sends signals to the weapon's control surfaces to guide it towards the designated point, he said.

It is said that US's Pentagon is ready with 120-member to review a massive leak of as many as 500,000 Iraq war documents, which are expected to be released by the WikiLeaks website this month.
Pentagon spokesman colonel Dave Lapan said the timing of the leak remained unclear but the defense department was ready for a document dump as early as Monday or Tuesday, a possibility raised in previous WikiLeaks statements.
However, an Icelandic spokesman for WikiLeaks said the website would not publish the reports on the Iraq war on Monday, but would make new documents public "very soon."
"There are rumours that have been floating around for some time, there is nothing you can do about it, they're obviously not correct. I can confirm that there's nothing coming out today," Kristinn Hrafnsson said.

According to Highest court of UAE, a man can beat his Wife and children as long as he leaves no marks on their body.
UAE's highest court said this while giving it's verdict in a case where a man beat up his wife and adult daughter. The court said the man was guilty of harming the women but noted that Islamic codes allow for discipline if no marks are left.
It added that children who have reached adulthood cannot be hit.
"Although the (law) permits the husband to use his right (to discipline), he has to abide by the limits of this right," an Abu Dhabi daily quoted chief justice Falah al-Hajeri as saying in the ruling released on Sunday. The man's daughter was 23, hence too old to be disciplined in this fashion, it noted.

USA president Barack Obama will be the Golden holy shrine of Sikhs during his first visit to India this November. He will visit the Golden Temple and offer prayers at Harmandar Sahib, the sanctum sanctorum.
"Obama will visit the Golden Temple. US embassy officials and security officers have been coming here at regular intervals for weeks. We are cooperating with them," SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar told IANS.
"We have started preparations (ahead of the visit). Security has been beefed up in Amritsar district," Amritsar's Deputy Commissioner K.S. Pannu told IANS.
"Obama will visit Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and Khalsa College. But there could be last minute changes. The final plan is yet to be sorted out," said Pannu.
What is worrying security agencies is that Obama is arriving on a Sunday, which attracts the highest number of devotees. The rush could be even more this time as Diwali falls Nov 5, making it a long weekend holiday till Nov 7.
"So far it has not been decided in which hotel President Obama will have his lunch," the official added.
