Apple becomes world’s most valuable brand

Global technology major Apple tops the Forbes list of the ‘World’s Most Valuable Brands’, ahead of giants Microsoft and Coca Cola. The Forbes Top 50 list of the world’s most valuable brands, compiled by the magazine, is dominated by 32 US firms. The top nine brands in the list were from the US. No Indian company features in the list.

Tech major Apple, which topped the list, “is a company that has faced setbacks before and bounced back to become the world’s most valuable brand — worth $ 57.4 billion,” Forbes noted. The magazine further said, “Apple shows just how a brand can survive and thrive even when a parent company stumbles. Apple’s sales in the late 1990s plummeted 46 per cent over a four-year stretch while the company lost money seven times over eight quarters.”

Know your faith through Octopus Paul Via Apple app(Unofficial)

The uTouchLabs-developed app is called “Ask the Octopus”  and it’s available in the App Store  for the iPhone , iPod touch and iPad (though it doesn’t have a special iPad version).

It’s pretty basic. When you start it up, you see an animated octopus, and you’re asked to enter in two things to compare (Soup or salad? Paper or plastic? Jacob or Edward? We’re sure you can think of better things to compare). After you’ve picked the options, the octopus drifts to the sea floor and selects a box, just like Paul. It’s random, of course — we don’t believe this octopus has secret predictive powers, but like a Magic 8-Ball, it’s fun to play with.

Surprise News conference on 16 July by Apple Inc related to iPhone 4 Flaws.

Apple has called a surprise news conference on 16 July at 1800 (BST) to talk about the iPhone 4 as the clamour for the company to resolve antenna problems with the new device intensified.

The company has refused to give details about whether the event will address reception problems that some users have reported with the phone, launched just last month.

Apple has faced mounting criticism from analysts and consumers over its handling of the issue.

Industry watchers said the firm was in danger of damaging its "rock star" reputation over how poorly it had dealt with what would normally be a minor problem.

iPhone app developer Jason Ting make $ 1,400 with iAds in one day.

iPhone app developer Jason Ting reveled that in just one day, iAds generated almost $1,400 in revenue for his free iPhone 4 app.

Yesterday, Ting’s app was unleashed on the App Store. It’s a program that lets you turn your iPhone’s flash  a new feature for the iPhone 4 into an LED flashlight at will. While the app did solidly on its first day of sales, what impressed Ting most were the stats for the free, iAd-supported version.

Ting reports that the free app alone generated $1,372.20 in revenue on Day One. The app’s eCPM (that’s “effective cost per thousand,” meaning the amount of revenue you earn per 1,000 impressions) was a whopping $147.55 — for those of you who don’t work in advertising, this eCPM is highly unusual.

1. The First Apple Logo Featured Isaac Newton

The Newton logo was designed by the lesser-known Apple founder Ronald Wayne (the guy who sold his stake — that today would be worth $22 billion — to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak for $800)
The rainbow apple, designed by Ron Janoff, replaced Sir Isaac and remained the symbol of the company for many years until the simpler monochromatic apple logo was introduced in 1998.

In China, most fans of apple's products here have been buying their iPhones, iPods and Mac computers from smugglers who operate through underground electronics markets. The company has few sales outlets in the country and only one Apple Store, a branch in Beijing.

Apple set to open a flagship Saturday in Shanghai, one of its largest stores in Asia to raise its profile in the world’s biggest mobile phone market and tap more directly into China’s fast-growing consumer electronics market.

Apple intends to open 25 retail stores in China over the next two years, starting with the Shanghai outlet, which it previewed for reporters Thursday.

This is Apple’s official statement about the issue:

Apple admits iPhone 4 reception issues, says fix is coming.

After initially dismissing the reports about the iPhone 4 antenna reception issue, Apple has officially admitted it exists, promising a software fix in a couple of weeks. There's a catch, though.

Apple's promised fix may not be good news for users experiencing the problem. Apple claims it has erroneously calculated the formula which displays signal bars on the iPhone, and therefore the iPhone has been showing too many bars in areas with weak signal strength.

Here's Apple's official announcement:

Dear iPhone 4 Users,

Documents leaked to BGR show Apple Knows About iPhone 4’s Flaws.

According to documents leaked to Boy Genius Report , AppleCare representatives are being given a strong company line to deliver to unhappy iPhone 4 owners who complain about reception issues.

Employees are told to say that the device’s reception performance “is the best we have ever shipped” and that its critical antenna flaws are “a fact of life in the wireless world.” They are told not to perform service on iPhones with these problems and instead to give customers a PR-driven recitative instead.

One law firm is even preparing for a class-action lawsuit against Apple and is soliciting iPhone 4 customers to contact them about reception issues.

Now, Apple Inc is Hiring iPhone/iPad Antenna Engineers.

After the much hyped launch of iPhone 4, the users are being disappointed by the trouble cause be the iPhone 4, with the most common problem every user is experiencing is the Antenna Reception Issue. Other problems reported by users via Gizmodo is Yellow tint Display issue, easily crackable.

Now, its seems Apple is started hiring three antenna engineers, i wonder what were they doing during the design and testing the phone during the pre-launch.

iPhone 4 antenna problems were predicted on June 10 by Danish professor

iPhone 4-antenna system is far from new. And possibly it is even so problematic that it will reduce the phone's performance, says leading experts when it comes to cellphone antennas, a professor Gert Frølund Pedersen from Aalborg University's Institute for Electronic Systems.

He is leading an international research team that recently got one million support from the Technology Foundation to develop a more effective mobile antenna, and has for many years studereret antenna technology on the mobile front.

Asked about Apple's iPhone presentation of four, he answered that the construction of the antenna as a part of the phone's frame is an old news that is seen many times before. Virtually all cell phone antennas on the market uses phone's metal parts such as antenna.
