Users updates on socio-networking sites are worth $30 Million a day

According to the research made by Penn State, real-time content sites updates like updates on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and others could be worth more than 30 million a day, or nearly 10.9 billion dollars a year, to advertisers.

"Real-time content is particularly interesting because it's a window into a person's world at a particular moment in time," said Jim Jansen, associate professor, information sciences and technology.

Nokia, the world's largest phone maker, will now outsource the work related to Symbian to Accenture as part of a plan to slash annual spending by 1 billion euros ($1.46 billion).

With Nokia-Microsoft tie up, Nokia can now save 1 billion euro (business research and development costs), or 18 percent, by 2013 from 5.65 billion in 2010.

According to latest data released by Experian Hitwise, Google may no longer be Search Engine king and may lose it's throne to Microsoft's Bing.

According to the data, Google was responsible for 64.42% of searches in the U.S. in March, 2011. Where as it's rival Bing-powered search (search.yahoo.com + bing.com) accounted for 30% of U.S. searches.

Yeah!!! your heard it right. Microsoft may soon become no. 2 phone maker, if you go by analysis from the research firm IDC. Then you might be wondering what will happen to Android or iOS or Blackberry. I say god knows it :p.

This startling projection by IDC to make the Microsoft no. 2 in phone maker may be possible.................. by the NOKIA which recently announced it tie-up with Microsoft to make Windows 7 Mobile. The evidence isn't visible today, nor will it appear anytime soon. Even at year's end, Android will have a 39.5 per cent share of smartphones worldwide, according to projections from IDC, the research firm. Symbian - used by Nokia, though it is not a major presence in the United States -- would be second, at 20.9 per cent, while Apple's iOS, the software that powers the iPhone, would be third, at 15.7. Windows Phone 7 and its predecessor, Windows Mobile, would be far behind, at 5.5 per cent.

Five-year-old Indian becomes Dubai millionaire overnight.

As a part of National Bonds Corporation lottery, a five-year-old, Ebrahim Fahimuddin Shaikh, who is of Indian origin has become the second millionaire overnight after winning a lottery at a national bond draw in Dubai.

"Thank You National Bonds. I want to buy candy and sweets with it, save like my dad and get toys and gifts for my family," said the young winner.

According to the survey conducted by global realty consultant Cushman & Wakefield, Mumbai slipped by one place to sixth in the list of the world's most expensive office locations in 2011, which was topped by Hong Kong, while London and Tokyo came second and third in the rankings, which valued Mumbai's office occupancy cost at USD 114 per square foot a year.

According to a new book by the World Bank economist Branko Milanovic about inequality around the world, a graph showing inequality within a country, in the context of inequality around the world.

Here the population of each country is divided into 20 equally-sized income groups, ranked by their household per-capita income. These are called “ventiles,” as you can see on the horizontal axis, and each “ventile” translates to a cluster of five percentiles.

The household income numbers are all converted into international dollars adjusted for equal purchasing power, since the cost of goods varies from country to country. In other words, the chart adjusts for the cost of living in different countries, so we are looking at consistent living standards worldwide.

After Tata Docomo(total) and Reliance(partial) launching 3G services, Bharti Airtel on Monday, i.e., 24-Jan 2011, launched its 3G service in India, with rollout plans to cover 1500-plus cities across the country by March next year.

By March this year, the Airtel said it would launch 3G service in 40-plus cities in 13 telecom circles, where it had won spectrum (radio waves) for 3G services in the auction held by the Government last year.

Farsan, an Indian food company based in the east Midlands town of Leicester, has opened a new factory in Gujarat to produce snacks such as samosas and bhajis.

Farsan managing director Nainesh Patel is in India on a two-week tour to promote the new factory and market his products to supermarket chains.

In an interview to the British business daily, Financial Times, Micro blogging site Twitter turned down an offer worth $ 500 million purchase from the leading and most popular social networking site Facebook, back in 2008.

According to the Financial Times, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg offered 500 million dollars in Facebook stock for Twitter.

Now, facebook is said to worth $50 billion, thanks to Goldman Sachs and Digital Sky Technologies.

According to New York Times sources, $500 million is pumped into Facebook belly by Goldman Sachs and Russian Internet investment group Digital Sky Technologies, making estimating the social networking site at USD 50 billion.

By Ny Times sources, Goldman Sachs has invested USD 450 million and Digital Sky Technologies, which has already invested about half a billion dollars in Facebook, put in an additional $50 million, the paper said.

Do you hate spams?? Generally many do.... But one man from the US does hate them like anything .... and now he makes his living by SUING. His name is Daniel Balsam.

It all started eight years ago, when he got annoyed by the mail he received, when he was working as a marketer. The mail was about enlarging his breasts.

Enraged, he launched a Web site called Danhatesspam.com, quit a career in marketing to go to law school and is making a decent living suing spammers.

Search giant Google confirmed that it had bought one of the most prestigious office buildings in Manhattan.

Thought the amount which the Google payed for the property at 111 Eighth Avenue building wasn't disclosed, but the Los Angeles Times put the price at $2 billion.
