Airtel 3G in beta stage, services to start by December end.

With the brand new logo,Bharti Airtel on Thursday Nov 18 said it's 3G services will initiated by the end of next month(December).

Tata Docomo had already launched its services and gave the taste of 3G speed to its subscriber for 7 days at free of cost.

"We are on track to launch 3G services by the end of this year," Bharti Airtel CMD Sunil Mittal said at a press conference to launch a new brand identity for the company.

Hyderabad to be India's Aero Hub.

Ratan Tata, Tata Group chairman, on sunday announced that all their businesses in aerospace and defence will be centered in Hyderabad.

Speaking at a function which was organised for handover of the first India built cabin for Sikorsky S-92 helicopter for US-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.

The cabins were manufactured by Tata Advanced Systems (TAS), wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons at Adibatla SEZ on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Tata Docomo will be the first private telecom operator to roll out 3G services across INDIA on 5th November.

Tata Teleservices Managing Director Anil Sardana told reporters here on Wednesday that the 3G services would be launched in Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh-Chattisgargh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (West), Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra. “Tata Teleservices will launch 3G services in all the nine circles, where it has 3G licence,'' he said.

“Powered with cutting-edge technology support from its partner NTT DOCOMO of Japan, Tata DOCOMO's 3G services will change the way consumers use their mobile phones, riding on the back of game-changing products, applications and services,'' a statement said.

From November one, will Mobile November Portability(MNP) system will be available?

With fuss growing after missing three deadlines, mobile number portability (MNP), which allows subscribers to retain numbers even after changing service operators, will be rolled out in November, Telecom Minister A Raja said.

"November 1 onwards, MNP would be operational partially... First, we wanted to inaugurate in Haryana," Raja told reporters on the sidelines of an event organised by BSNL in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The MNP system in the first phase, will be introduced in 11 circles and the implementation will begin from the second or third week of November.

An official announcement about this will be made on November 1. Implementation in the eleven circles would be completed by December 20, he said.

Vodafone IN initiates 3G service in India, full scale commercial launch in early 2011

One of the leading Indian Telecom operator Vodafone IN today had announced launch of its 3G services but a full-scale commercial launch is expected to happen in the early four months of 2011.

Vodafone IN paid a whopping $2.6 billion for getting 3G licence in nine circles, Vodafone would make an additional investment $400 million to $500 million for rolling out 3G services city wise which tell us the early use of 3G services wont be affordable.

Vodafone has secured spectrum license to offer 3G services in nine circles: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East) and West Bengal.

Due to misuse of cellphones and prevent the misuse of sim cards from terror activities, Center Indian Govt had tighten the neck of the all the Indian cell operators to submit with the latest address proof of the cell users.

It is said that so far, nearly 30 lakh cellphone subscribers have been disconnected from their respective networks across the country due to either incomplete or unverified customer details.

There has be some news in some states where subscriber verification where the operators claimed that the involvement of police has been creating problems, came up for discussion in a meeting of telecom operators, led by Bharti Group chairman Sunil Mittal, with the Union home secretary G K Pillai on Wednesday.

Upadhyay will join the club of centurion blood donors on the All India Voluntary Blood Donation Day this Friday, when he will make his 100th donation.

He will also be the 66th member of the Ahmedabad Red Cross Centurion Blood Donors' Club.

Ironically though, when this man had donated blood for the first time, it was because he wanted to commit suicide and he thought the donation would take his life!

Prithvi-II India's short range nuclear missile fails to take off.

(NDTV) A user trial of the nuclear weapons capable, surface-to-surface Prithvi-II ballistic missile in Orissa ended in an embarrassing failure as the missile failed to take off.

The nine metre-long, single stage liquid propelled missile with a maximum range of 350 kilometres was fired from a mobile launcher at 10.03 am from the Interim Test Range at Chandipur-on-sea. Sources in the Defence Research and Development Organisation confirmed the failure and said the missile just did not launch while the launchpad was enveloped in smoke.

There was no clear word on what caused the failure. The test was being conducted by the Strategic Forces Command.

The missile was last tested on June 18 this year, but for a shorter range of 150 kms.

The new global power lineup for 2010 also predicted that New Delhi's clout in the world will further rise by 2025, according to "Global Governance 2025" jointly issued by the National Intelligence Council (NIC) of the US and the European Union's Institute for Security Studies (EUISS).

Using the insights of a host of experts from Brazil, Russia, India and China, among others, and fictionalised scenarios, the report illustrates what could happen over the next 25 years in terms of global governance.

In 2010, the US tops the list of powerful countries/regions, accounting for nearly 22 percent of the global power.

(PTI) Sushil Kumar on Sunday created history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the World Championships, here.

Sushil, who was only the second Indian to win an Olympic medal when he grabbed a bronze at Beijing Games in 2008, overcame Russia's Gogaev Alan 3-1 in the final to clinch the gold.

He had defeated Azerbaijan's Hasanov Jabrayil in the semifinal of the free style 66kg category event.

After getting a bye in the first round, he beat Akritidis of Greece, Martin Sebastian of Germany and Buyan Jav of Mongolia en route to the final.

Last night, hopes for extra funding were fading as Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander rejected demands for extra money from Tory Defence Secretary Liam Fox and insisted the 20 billion pounds cost of replacing Trident had to be met fully by the MoD, The Observer reported today.

Quoting an expert, the report said the increasing costs of running the Gurkha's following actress Joanna Lumley's high-profile campaign last year to improve their rights, added to the sense that the "writing is on the wall" for the Brigade of Gurkhas, which has 3,640 members.

(IANS) It's finally official. Shashi Tharoor is marrying Sunanda Pushkar on August 22 in a "quiet family affair" to be held at his "crumbling 200-year-old ancestral home" in Kerala.

In a letter to close friends, the former minister, who had to step down because of his links with the Dubai-based Pushkar and her stake in the Kochi IPL team, said the wedding would be followed by a "modest reception" on August 23 in his constituency Thiruvananthapuram and a "final reception" in Delhi September 3.

"I am writing to convey to you with joy — while I realise you may perhaps have learned this already from our intrusive media, though I have not confirmed it publicly — that I will soon be marrying Ms Sunanda Pushkar," Mr Tharoor wrote.

Man bikes across US to raise funds for Indian kids

(PTI) 67-year-old American, who worked as a teacher in India for a couple of years, from undertaking a 3,831- mile bicycle tour across America to raise $ 14,500 for the education of children in India's rural areas.

Lauren Brown, who was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, taught Chemistry at the Methodist Rural School in Zahirabad in Andhra Pradesh's Medak district from 1964 to 1967 while serving in the Peace Corps in India.

Brown began his bicycle journey on April 26 from California and travelled 3,831 miles to reach Washington on August 9, during which he raised USD 14,500 (around Rs 6.67 lakh).

During his journey, Brown organised church programmes and charity functions as part of his efforts to raise funds for poor village children so that they can attend Methodist Schools in India.

(PTI)A National Emergency Telephone Number - 2611 - has been mooted by a Pune-based Telecom engineer as a versatile communication platform during emergency and disaster management in the country.

Dial 2611, a National Emergency Telephone Number system (NETNS,) is designed and developed as a nationwide single telephone number assigned to integrate local, regional and national help lines and is easy to remember, Dinkar Borde, a scientist and an innovator, said.

Borde has submitted his proposal to Bureau of Police Research and Development in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs last October for its consideration.

The NETNS is designed in such a way that it will inform, arrange and coordinate forces at the emergency point and is a single telephone number network for India, Borde said.
