World No 2 in Badminton, Saina Nehwal, is shuttling her way towards becoming one of the top spots brands in India. Brand strategists say that she can now charge up to 30 lakh per endorsement - 500% more than what she used to get before her ranking shot up.
Unlike her coach, Pullela Gopichand, who refused to endorse aerated drinks at the peak of his career, Saina says she's wide open to offers, especially since she's somewhat of a Cola girl herself.
"Today's generation wants to drink everything. I am also one of them. Gopi sir took a very brave decision because he believes if we do anything, the public follows. I don't see it that way that if I drink, others will also start drinking it,'' she said.

"I am very happy to achieve the world number two so soon in my career. The last three wins have really helped me. It is a great feeling but I feel my priority still will be to win more tournaments for India rather than focussing on ranking," Saina said.
"It will be difficult to hold on to the ranking but I hope to continue my hard work and win more titles and become the number one player soon," said the Hyderabadi shuttler, who is down with fever and cold.

(AP) With pressure for video replay mounting after two blatant missed calls at the World Cup, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said soccer's governing body will reopen the issue after the tournament.
Blatter said Tuesday that FIFA deplores ``when you see the evidence of refereeing mistakes.'' It would be ``a nonsense'' not to consider changes, he said.
The referee at England's second-round match with Germany on Sunday missed a clear English goal that would have tied the score 2-2. Germany went on to win 4-1. Hours later, a referee awarded a goal to Argentina on a play in which goal-scorer Carlos Tevez was obviously offside. Argentina went on to beat Mexico 3-1.

Saina Nehwal does what she says. Thats why Hyderbadi loves Saina rather then the Glam seeking Tennis girls Sania I mean to say Sania Mirza whos is now not an indian any more.
This latest rankings comes after the Saina winning the India Open Grand Prix and the Singapore Open Super Series respectively.
It is now her career best ranking, i will be like her dream come true. According to me, saina believes in aim small small goals and achieves it and then targets her next. Firstly she expressed her desire to be reach World's Top 25 Ranking, then 10 then 5, then top 3, reaching her goal :).
I hope are Indian are keen to Saina Nehwal in First Position.
Saina, with 64791.2637 points, made a significant upward movement in the chart and is just behind Chinese duo of Yihan Wang and Xin Wang.

A teenage US sailor who went missing while sailing solo around the world has been found safe and well, her family has said.
We have just heard from the Australian Search and Rescue. The plane arrived on the scene moments ago. Wild Eyes is upright but her rigging is down. The weather conditions are abating. Radio communication was made and Abby reports that she is fine!
We don't know much else right now. The French fishing vessel that was diverted to her location will be there in a little over 24 hours. Where they will take her or how long it will take we don't know.
More updates as news comes in.

FIFA says Latin diva Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) has been chosen as the official song for this edition of the World Cup. Shakira will perform the song with South African band Freshlyground during the event.
According to FIFA, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) represents the vitality and energy of the host Continent. South African guitars back up the Afro-Colombian rhythm and Soca beat. The chorus is similar to that of a popular Cameroon song made famous by Golden Voices in particular.
However (a big however), everyone other than FIFA seems to think that the official song for the Football World Cup is Somalia-born Canadian hip-hop artist K’naan’s Wavin’ Flag. The song has virtually taken over social networking sites like YouTube and is even being played in commercials.
