A new process for storing and generating hydrogen to run fuel cells in cars has been invented by chemical engineers at Purdue University.
The process, given the name hydrothermolysis, uses a powdered chemical called ammonia borane, which has one of the highest hydrogen contents of all solid materials, said Arvind Varma, R. Games Slayter Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and head of the School of Chemical Engineering.
"This is the first process to provide exceptionally high hydrogen yield values at near the fuel-cell operating temperatures without using a catalyst, making it promising for hydrogen-powered vehicles," he said. "We have a proof of concept."
The new process combines hydrolysis and thermolysis, two hydrogen-generating processes that are not practical by themselves for vehicle applications.

It is the picture that confirms Japan's Ikaros solar sail is fully extended and ready for the next part of its mission.
The image was acquired by a tiny camera ejected from the central hub of Ikaros.
It transmitted the picture back to the central hub of the spacecraft, which then relayed the data many millions of kilometres to Earth.
Ikaros will demonstrate the principle of solar sailing, which has long been touted as a means of moving spacecraft around the Solar System.

I don't know who is this guy but he sounded simple. Ya Verzion on iPad, yess people it's Verizon for iPad not the AT&T.
He done by losing his warranty and GPS. But, what did he gain? Only a killer, reliable and speedy network Verizon and with a WiFi Hotspot!

Research In Motion Ltd. is readying a slate of new devices and software as it looks to keep its BlackBerry smartphone from losing more ground to touch-screen devices like Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPad
RIM is testing a touch-screen smartphone with a slide-out keyboard, according to people familiar with the device. The phone runs on a new version of the BlackBerry operating system and works much like an iPhone, letting users swipe through screens and expand images with their fingers, these people say. It also has a universal search bar that lets users scour all the phone's data and some data online as well, these people say.
RIM is also experimenting with a tablet device to serve as a larger-screen companion to its BlackBerry phone, say people familiar with RIM's plans. That device, which is in an early stage of development, will connect to cellular networks via a BlackBerry phone, these people say. It could come out as soon as the end of the year, these people say.
A RIM spokeswoman said the company doesn't comment on rumors and speculation. RIM executives have said they will ship a phone running a new operating system and a new Web browser in the quarter ending Sept. 30, but haven't provided details of the device. They haven't discussed plans for a tablet.

A Chicago-based company called Tanagram Partners is currently developing military-grade augmented reality technology that - if developed to the full potential of its prototypes - would completely change the face of military combat as we know it. Tanagram CEO Joseph Juhnke presented the technology last week at the Augmented Reality Event in Santa Clara, California, and wowed the audience with his presentation.

Today at its Xbox 360 media event in Los Angeles, Microsoft dropped a big piece of news: the launch of a slimmer version of the Xbox 360, which starts shipping today and will hit stories by the end of this week.
The new Xbox 360 comes in black, rather the current Xbox 360, which is white. It has 250 GB of disk space and comes equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, instead of using a direct Ethernet connection. And, best of all, it’s shorter and thinner than its bulkier counterpart.
The new console will cost $299 — for comparison’s sake, the PS3 Slim and the current 120 GB version of the Xbox 360 also cost $299 (that’s more or equal GB for your buck).

Microsoft on Monday unveiled the first games for its remote-control-free video game system, Kinect for Xbox 360. Several of the titles were pretty generic: a dancing game, a race car game, an adventure game and a fitness game.
And then there was "Kinectimals."
A demo of this bizarre but cuddly game showed a little girl tickling and playing with "Skittles," a virtual tiger cub. She threw sticks for the tiger to fetch and called it to the screen, where it licked the television and wagged its tail for her.
"Come here Skittles!" she called to her virtual friend.

Employers can now fall back on a new gadget before recruiting a potential candidate, thanks to scientists who claim to have developed a voice-based stress detector that could identify which job applicants can perform better under pressure.
An international team, led by Bo Yin of the National Information and Communications Technology Australia in Sydney, has designed the new gadget which it exhibited at trade show CeBIT Australia recently.
"Normally we have full control over our vocal muscles and change their position to create different intonations. But when stressed, we lose control of the position of the speech muscles and our speech becomes more monotone," Yin was quoted by the 'New Scientist' as saying.

Internet giant Google introduced some of the fruits of its labor, including 360-degree pictures from the country’s soccer stadiums and maps with information on some of South Africa’s most important sights.
To get shots from inside the buildings, Google used what it calls the Street View Trike — a bulky tricycle with cameras mounted on it. The video of the tricycle in use shows a sometimes-tired looking employee pedaling through the stadiums; he’s not moving quickly, but he makes sure to wear a helmet.

A team led by University of Arizona astronomer Joshua Eisner has observed in unprecedented detail the processes giving rise to stars and planets in nascent solar systems.
The discoveries provide a better understanding of the way hydrogen gas from the protoplanetary disk is incorporated into the star.
They are swirling clouds of gas and dust that feed the growing star in its centre and eventually coalesce into planets and asteroids to form a solar system.
By coupling both Keck telescopes on Mauna Kea in Hawaii with a specifically engineered instrument named ASTRA (Astrometric and phase-Referenced Astronomy), Eisner and his colleagues were able to peer deeply into protoplanetary disks. The big challenge facing Eisner's team lies in obtaining the extremely fine resolution necessary to observe the processes that happen at the boundary between the star and its surrounding disk — 500 light years from earth.

Seven students were caught using wireless earphones and wristwatch-like receiving devices for cheating during a national college entrance examination in northwest China.
The students took the exam Monday and Tuesday in China's Gansu province, Xinhua reported quoting local authorities Wednesday. They scored zero marks in the exams.
Meanwhile, police have detained three people who allegedly sold the devices, a spokesman for the education bureau in Jingyuan county said.
The annual two-day exam, or "gaokao" in Chinese, is the only opportunity for the high school students to secure a place in the universities.

A Switzerland-based chemist who invented solar cells that mimic photosynthesis is the winner of a million-dollar technology prize announced Wednesday. Michael Gratzel invented low-cost solar cells that can be turned into electricity-generating windows, mobile solar panels and other devices.
He won the $960,000 (€800,000) Millennium Technology Prize, awarded every other year by Finland's Technology Academy.
The cells use nanocrystal films to produce power from sunlight, the BBC reports. The particles are so small that they don't scatter light, and can collect solar energy from all sides. The cells are fairly cheap to make — they use dye squeezed from berries, for instance — which the Finnish academy said could be a breakthrough for solar energy.

AT&T said late Wednesday that it has fixed a security hole that may have allowed hackers to access the e-mail addresses of iPad 3G owners.
The announcement came shortly after tech and gossip blog Gawker posted an expose of the breach. A hacker group used a vulnerability on AT&T's website to harvest the e-mail addresses iPad buyers provided to activate their devices, which went on sale barely more than a month ago.
The result was a glitzy who's who list of iPad early adopters, which includes major political figures, military officials and top politicians. Rahm Emanuel, the chief of staff for President Obama, was among the iPad users whose e-mail address was exposed, according to Gawker. Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg were also on the hit list.

Aude Dufresne, professor at the University of Montreal (UofM) Department Of Communications, led a team of researchers that are designing a new software to evaluate the biological responses of Internet users.
Simply put, the new software measures everything in web users from body heat to eye movements to facial expressions and analyses how they relate to online activities.
The technology is now being tested at the newly opened Bell User Experience Centre, which is located at the telecom giant's Nun's Island campus.
Bell will use the University of Montreal technology to investigate how people react to websites. Such studies will provide companies with facts on how they can improve online experiences.
"With e-commerce and the multiplication of retail websites, it has become crucial for companies to consider the emotions of web users," says Dufresne, according to an UofM release.

Nexus One is still alive and pretty much kicking, especially thanks to the community. Since Google won’t push new features to it, the community has to.
First Cyanogen added support for 802.11n WiFi in CyanogenMod, and now about half an hour ago, an xda-developers forum member by the name of charnsingh_online announced that he made a patch for CyanogenMod which enabled 720p video recording in the Nexus One.
The only requirement – CyanogenMod version of at least CM5.0.8test3, which means – yes, you need a rooted N1 running CM and not the stock OS.
