Do you Know about?

All thing which you want to know about China's Supercomputer Tianhe-1A

China is trying to surpass USA in every aspect and trying to emerge as the World Leader.

Now with supercomputer called Tianhe-1A, china owes the supercomputing supremacy and the United States no longer owns the world's fastest supercomputer.

A computer called Tianhe-1A, unveiled at a conference in Beijing, China, can run calculations faster than the previous speed leader, a computer at a U.S. lab in Tennessee.

The new computer set a performance record by crunching 2.507 petaflops of data at once. Previously, a computer called Cray XT5 Jaguar and located at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, completed 1.75 petaflop calculations.

According to Nvidia, the computer technology company, the world's fastest computer will be operated as an open access system and will be used for large scale scientific computations.

This supercomputer uses 14,339 Intel Xeon CPUs and 7,168 NVIDIA Tesla M2050 GPUs crunching 2,507 trillion floating point calculations per second or 2.507 petaflops.

Nvidia claims that the ‘Tianhe-1A’ consumes around 4.04 megawatts of power and if the machine uses only CPUs completely it would consume three times more power.

The supercomputer, built by the National University of Defence Technology and located at the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin, has horsepower equivalent to 175,000 laptop computers, Nvidia officials said
