Kanpur Police was the first police station in India to register an FIR through Facebook. It's is not surprising as we had heard many incidents past, involving popular social networking sites like twitter and facebook delivering court judgement and as well as used in divorce related cases.
A Facebook user Tabish Ahmad, reported about his lost bag which contained important documents to the Kohna Station via facebook profile page. Police acted fast and started investigation as the user droped his address and phone no. during filing the report.
And the police informed the development in the case via facebook to the reported user.
Kanpur DIG congratulated the local police station on lodging first report based on 'Facebook' complain, encourage the people in their area to file reports through 'Facebook'.
