We do apply ice on the injuries for the temporary ice as it numb the senses at the site of application. But a new study has found that putting ice on injuries could slow down healing as it prevents the release of a key repair hormone.
The study, published in the 'Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology' journal, suggests muscle inflammation after acute injury is essential to repair. It can also lead to new therapies for acute muscle injuries that lead to inflammation.
In the study, Prof Lan Zhou and colleagues at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio discovered inflamed cells produce a high level of a hormone called insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) which significantly increases the rate of muscle regeneration.

Just a crack down on one person by Russian authorities had led to estimated drop one-fifth email spam since last month. But with 200 billion spam messages in circulation each day, there is still plenty to go around.
Russia, being a major spam exporter, say they are trying to do their part to stem the flow. On Tuesday, police officials here announced a criminal investigation of a suspected spam kingpin, Igor A. Gusev. They said he had probably fled the country.
Moscow police authorities said Mr. Gusev, 31, was a central figure in the operations of SpamIt.com, which paid spammers to promote online pharmacies, sometimes quite lewdly.
SpamIt.com suddenly stopped operating on Sept. 27. With less financial incentive to send their junk mail, spammers curtailed their activity by an estimated 50 billion messages a day.

Shocking: Hacking experts can take on Airplane onboard system and can crash at their will
According to the security document released by Britain Ministry, sophisticated hackers now has the capability of breaking into a plane's sophisticated on-board computer systems and forcing it to crash.
They could also target critical infrastructure such as nuclear power stations and electricity supplies, reports the Daily Mail.
These hackers can be engaged by terror cells and foreign states to cause maximum damage, British Prime Minister David Cameron's long-awaited National Security Strategy report said.
This cyber threat makes it possible for a potential hijacker to carry out his attack without boarding the plane.

According to poll conducted in America, nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they think President Obama is Muslim, up from the 11 percent who said so in March 2009, according to a poll released Thursday. The proportions who correctly say he is a Christian are just 34 percent, down from 48 percent in March of last year.
The White House even felt compelled to respond with a terse knockdown from spokesman Bill Burton: "The president is obviously a Christian. He prays every day." (Obama is a 'committed Christian', says White House)
Though its true that obama is christian but he was born to Kenyan Muslim father and a Kansas mother.
Born in Hawaii, he lived from ages 6 to 10 in predominantly Muslim Indonesia with his mother and Indonesian stepfather. His full name, Barack Hussein Obama, sounds Muslim to many.

Do u Feel discouraged by yourself when it comes to drinking ?? Then it may be in our genes.
A gene that plays an indirect role in preventing some people from becoming alcoholics has been identified for the first time.
Researchers from University of North Carolina have found out the gene, called CYP2E1, which is indirectly responsible for the protective effect for 10 to 20 per cent of the population.

Here is one more achievement by India's Instrument Research and Development Establishment (IRDE),a lab of DRDO for developing the Laser Guided bomb tech from the scratch.
The development of technology for producing Laser Guided Bomb(LGB) is part of ongoing research towards achieving self-dependency in the defense area being done in IRDE, a lab of DRDO, Scientist and Public Relation Officer of IRDE told PTI.
LGB uses a laser designator to mark or illuminate a target. The reflected laser light from the target is then detected by the seeker which sends signals to the weapon's control surfaces to guide it towards the designated point, he said.

It is said that US's Pentagon is ready with 120-member to review a massive leak of as many as 500,000 Iraq war documents, which are expected to be released by the WikiLeaks website this month.
Pentagon spokesman colonel Dave Lapan said the timing of the leak remained unclear but the defense department was ready for a document dump as early as Monday or Tuesday, a possibility raised in previous WikiLeaks statements.
However, an Icelandic spokesman for WikiLeaks said the website would not publish the reports on the Iraq war on Monday, but would make new documents public "very soon."

According to Highest court of UAE, a man can beat his Wife and children as long as he leaves no marks on their body.
UAE's highest court said this while giving it's verdict in a case where a man beat up his wife and adult daughter. The court said the man was guilty of harming the women but noted that Islamic codes allow for discipline if no marks are left.
It added that children who have reached adulthood cannot be hit.
"Although the (law) permits the husband to use his right (to discipline), he has to abide by the limits of this right," an Abu Dhabi daily quoted chief justice Falah al-Hajeri as saying in the ruling released on Sunday. The man's daughter was 23, hence too old to be disciplined in this fashion, it noted.

Yet an another engineering excellence, the world`s longest tunnel has taken shape deep beneath the Swiss Alps as fifteen years of hard work of boring, drilling and carving through solid rock comes to a close.
The 57-kilometer (35.4-mile) Gotthard Base rail tunnel will form the lynchpin of a network between northern and southeastern Europe that could shift truck freight onto rail and de-congest the Alps in central Switzerland when it opens in 2017. The Swiss tunnel has reclaimed the record from Japan's 33.5-mile Seikan Tunnel as the world's longest excluding aqueducts.

USA president Barack Obama will be the Golden holy shrine of Sikhs during his first visit to India this November. He will visit the Golden Temple and offer prayers at Harmandar Sahib, the sanctum sanctorum.
"Obama will visit the Golden Temple. US embassy officials and security officers have been coming here at regular intervals for weeks. We are cooperating with them," SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar told IANS.
"We have started preparations (ahead of the visit). Security has been beefed up in Amritsar district," Amritsar's Deputy Commissioner K.S. Pannu told IANS.
"Obama will visit Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and Khalsa College. But there could be last minute changes. The final plan is yet to be sorted out," said Pannu.
What is worrying security agencies is that Obama is arriving on a Sunday, which attracts the highest number of devotees. The rush could be even more this time as Diwali falls Nov 5, making it a long weekend holiday till Nov 7.

New study published in the journal Pediatrics, researchers in the UK found children who spend a lot of time in front of television and computer monitors had more psychological difficulties than their counterparts who weren't in front of these devices.
Scientists from University of Bristol's Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences, looked at 1000 children, between 10 and 11 years, and noted the time they spent on recreational activities, including both sedentary time and time spent on moderate to vigorous activities and then they arrived at the conclusion.
The youngsters also completed a questionnaire that asked them about their strengths and difficulties. The questions were designed to assess their psychological well-being.
The data found children who looked at television or computer screens for more than two hours scored high on having psychological difficulty, regardless of how much time the children participated in physical activity.

This was concluded from full-term infants born in Denmark between 1994 and 2004 who had jaundice were 67 per cent more likely to develop autism.
Neonatal jaundice is usually caused by elevated production of bilirubin, a substance found in bile that results from the normal breakdown of red blood cells.
