"Users of iPhones and other GPS devices must be aware of what kind of information about them is being collected," Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger told the German weekly.
According to Der Spiegel, the minister's criticism was aimed at changes Apple has made in its privacy policy whereby the company can collect data on the geographic location of the users of its products -- albeit anonymously.
Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger said she expected Apple to "open its databases to German data protection authorities" and clarify what data it was collecting and how long it was saving the data.

Germany's new radar satellite, TanDEM-X, has returned its first images.
The spacecraft was launched from Kazakhstan on Monday on a mission to make the most precise 3D map of the Earth's surface.
The pictures demonstrate the platform is in excellent health and ready to team up with the TerraSAR-X satellite launched in 2007.
Together, the pair will trace the variation in height across the globe to a precision of better than two metres.

The new images depict a landscape in Ukraine, the north of Madagascar, and Moscow.
The pictures illustrate neatly the particular specialism of using radar to sense the planet's surface.

The TanDEM-X satellite has blasted into orbit on a mission to acquire the most precise 3D map of the Earth's surface.
The German radar spacecraft will fly in formation with an identical platform called TerraSAR-X launched in 2007.
Together, the pair will measure the variation in height across the globe to an accuracy of better than two metres.

BERLIN : Google’s plan to offer Street View photo mapping in Germany, which has bumped up against the country’s strict privacy laws, has come in for renewed criticism after regulators learned that the company, a search engine giant, was also archiving the locations of household wireless networks.
Google’s Street View technology has been accepted in countries like Britain and France, but has encountered greater resistance in Germany and Switzerland, where data privacy laws are stricter than in the rest of Europe or in the United States.

In a letter to Gray Powell published on the Internet, the German airline said it had "noted with great interest your passion for German beer and culture."
"We thought you could use a break soon -- and therefore would like to offer you complimentary business class transportation to Munich, where you can literally pick up where you last left off," the letter added.
