  • A selection of documents seized in last year's raid on bin Laden's house in Pakistan will be posted online Thursday by the Army's Combating Terrorism Center at the US Military Academy.
    The correspondence shows a leader revered but sometimes ignored by field commanders, who dismissed him as out of touch even as he urged them to keep attacking US targets.
  • Mr John Brennan, White House counter terrorism Chief, says that bin Laden wrote of his worries that his leaders were being killed so quickly the group would not survive.

According to secret diplomatic cables made available to Reuters by third party, China had increased its hand in cyber-espionage and said to have gained accessed to sensitive user names and passwords and terabytes of classified documents.

And at the moment, many experts believe China may have gained the upper hand.

According to US investigators, China has stolen terabytes of sensitive data - from usernames and passwords for State Department computers to designs for multi-billion dollar weapons systems. And Chinese hackers show no signs of letting up. "The attacks coming out of China are not only continuing, they are accelerating," says Alan Paller, director of research at information-security training group SANS Institute in Washington, DC.

According to the new study by the Royal Society, the UK's national science academy, China is well on the course of becoming World leader in science as their ancestors were.

The country that invented the compass, gunpowder, paper and printing is set for a globally important comeback and may gain its position as soon as 2013.

The figures are based on the papers published in recognised international journals listed by the Scopus service of the publishers Elsevier.

In 1996, the first year of the analysis, the US published 292,513 papers - more than 10 times China's 25,474.

"The huge amount of around 200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

The proportions who correctly say he is a Christian are just 34 percent, down from 48 percent in March of last year.

USA president Barack Obama will be the Golden holy shrine of Sikhs during his first visit to India this November. He will visit the Golden Temple and offer prayers at Harmandar Sahib, the sanctum sanctorum.

"Obama will visit the Golden Temple. US embassy officials and security officers have been coming here at regular intervals for weeks. We are cooperating with them," SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar told IANS.

"We have started preparations (ahead of the visit). Security has been beefed up in Amritsar district," Amritsar's Deputy Commissioner K.S. Pannu told IANS.

"Obama will visit Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and Khalsa College. But there could be last minute changes. The final plan is yet to be sorted out," said Pannu.

What is worrying security agencies is that Obama is arriving on a Sunday, which attracts the highest number of devotees. The rush could be even more this time as Diwali falls Nov 5, making it a long weekend holiday till Nov 7.

"So far it has not been decided in which hotel President Obama will have his lunch," the official added.

A wave of government layoffs in September outpaced weak hiring in the private sector, the unemployment rate held at 9.6 per cent last month, the Labor Department said Friday.

The jobless rate has now topped 9.5 per cent for 14 straight months, the longest stretch since the 1930s.

The private sector added 64,000 positions, the weakest showing since June.

Sikhs with Turban now joins US Army

(AFP) Growing up near the air force base in Dayton, Ohio, Mr Tejdeep Singh Rattan, knew he wanted to serve in uniform. When he was turned away the third time from serving in the military, Mr Rattan became suspicious.

“I was, like, I don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “I was very introverted at the time. But I said I really want to do this, and you guys are sending me out again and again.”

The 31-year-old is now US Army Captain Rattan and since July the head dentist at the Fort Drum base in New York. In what appears to be a quiet shift, the US military has allowed Mr Rattan and two other Sikhs to serve while retaining their turbans and beards, which are required by their faith.

Boeing plans to enter Space Tourism.

USA Boeing on Wednesday announced it plan to enter the growing that it was entering the space tourism business which will be big blow for Obama's plan to motivate NASA to concentrate on Space Tourism.

The new business may take off as early as 2015, would most likely launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida to the International Space Station.

Recently, Obama administration has proposed turning over to private companies the business of taking NASA astronauts to orbit, and Boeing and Bigelow Aerospace of Las Vegas won an $18 million contract this year for preliminary development and testing of a capsule that could carry seven passengers.

(PTI) USA is going crazy in its Outsourcing policies. In another protectionist measure primarily aimed at China, the US House of Representatives passed two different bills that mandate the Congress and the Department of Homeland Security to purchase only US-made goods.

The Congressional Made in America Act, introduced by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, requires the Congress to buy goods and services made in America for the first time in nearly seven decades.

Similarly, the Berry Amendment Extension Act, introduced by Congressman Larry Kissell directed the Department of Homeland Security to buy clothing, tents, and other products made in America.

“These two bills, unanimously passed by the House, will help in creating American jobs and expanding America's manufacturing sector,” said Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

US teenagers get 12,000 botox jabs in a year .

(PTI)Injection of botox, a muscle-relaxing toxin used to treat wrinkles in adults, is becoming more popular among US teenagers seeking to enhance their looks.

Botulinum toxin, which is sold under the brand names Botox and Dysport, was injected 12,000 times into Americans aged 13 to 19 last year. And some of them even got multiple doses, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has said. The number represented a 2 percent increase from 2008.

Before the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Botox for cosmetic use in 2002, it was used in the treatments of neuromuscular and eye disorders. But today, nobody knows how many teenagers are using them for medical rather than aesthetic purposes, according to The New York Times.
